JF, There is no "democracy" left in the system... they have gamed the redistricting part and they have gamed the special interest contribution part.

Ain't that the truth. Here, Arnold is pushing for a measure that addresses the districting problem, since in the last election every single legislator got to keep his or her job. Unfortunately, the Attorney General is keeping it off the ballot this year because the petition version is just a few words different from the submitted version. Cute technicality; I'm sure the AG is getting treated to some very nice steak dinners in Sacramento because of his "hard-line" efforts to defend the districts.

Of course, the real problem is ignorance and apathy within the voting public. Kind of says something when more than half of Americans can't even name one Supreme Court justice. But hey, they sure know who Judge Judy is ...
