If you meant installed rather than copied 2000 over 98 that should not be the problem if the install went smoothly.
Your modem probably needs a win2000 driver. Here's an article about aol and 2000.

Your audio probably has the same problem. Go to the manufacturers site and download a Windows 2000 driver and get back to us if you need help installing them. If you can't find the drivers tell us what model # and brand of modem and audio card you are using and we'll point you to them.
