My perception is what Cabletron bought was a strong entry into the
enterprise (DEC's strong hold), customer service, and DEC's customer
base. DEC is a has been in networking, since it had not ramped up
it's own networking division (not much R/D spent on it over the
last few years). The only viable product handed over to cabletron
is the VNswitch.
