Ford was a boy scout not only as child, but metaphorically as an adult and leader. He resisted the fall of Vietnam despite little help from Congress and we should have more such leaders. Although he delayed Reagan's election by 4 years, it is an American tradition to nominate the incumbent and Reagan was primed to defeat Carter in 1980.
