Lindy, the employment of phrases like "People who think like you tend to believe if you pass enough laws and hire enough Social Workers, you can solve all problems.", is not only presumptuous and rather rude, but it's just flat out wrong. While I realize you don't know me, I have posted many times on SI that I was a very burned out social worker after ten years, and would never re-enter the field. I am very far from being a bleeding heart liberal. My statements about the polygamous situation are based on my knowledge of the law as it was when I worked, and my own personal opinions of the abuse of children. And I don't believe that child protection should ever be a partisan issue. How you got to- "have enough laws, hire enough social workers- and people who think like me"- well, you made a leap apparently based on your OWN perceptions of anyone who has worked in the field, not on any factbased knowledge of me.
