If you are going to not allow polygamy then we must also not allow unions and marriages between two members of the opposite sex plus allowing them to adopt children.

Whoops--time to recap. I've been trying to differentiate between polygamy and the forced marriages of minors.
Personally, I have no problem with polygamy-- or same sex marriage, for that matter. It's not something I find desirable, but it's also "not my business".

My concern is very narrow.
Children.

ANd I find historical examples unpersuasive, because so much has been done WRONG in the past, particularly with regard to women and children.

Every effort should be made to keep the children with their mothers and brothers and sisters.
Totally agree.

Regarding the land-- have no idea.
And regarding the candidates.... not that I know of, but wouldn't THAT be fun! Much more exciting than debates about lapel pins!
