We can go on and argue and argue about it. Hard drives are a lot
faster than Jazz Drives. I can argue this. Ok, Jazz drives seek times are currently at 12 ms. I can get a IBM Desk Star 3 model
33240 3.2 gigabye hard drive 9.5 ms and 5,400rpm for 210 bucks.
You may think that 9.5 ms is no different than 12 ms. In computer time, that is a long long time. think of 1 ms as 1 year for a computer. Also, can your Jazz drive spin at 5,400rpms? I don't think so. If Jazz can spin at 5,400 rpm, the drive would probably break in half. It wouldn't be able to handle the shock. I'll be surprised if it is 4,500rpm. The Jazz drive's data transfer speed is not 6-10 megs per sec. There is no way. I can go into detail even to point of drawing diagrams and telling you how hard drives work. If this thing would allow me to draw pictures. Also, I can argue about dropping the hard drive and dropping a jazz cartigae. The instantanious shock of dropping a hard drive and dropping a Jazz would cause destruction of both objects. Trying to stop something instantiously without any deceleration at all would require a lot of force. Try dropping your Jazz disc from shoulder height on concrete and I guarntee you that it would not work.
