Compaq cut by Salomon
--3:06 pm - By Michael Baron
Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ: news, msgs) is falling 3 1/16, or 10.7 percent, to 25 7/16 on news that Salomon Smith Barney has cut its rating on the stock to "neutral" from "buy." The firm also lowered its price target to $25 from $45, citing second quarter revenue and channel inventory concerns. The downgrade came late in the trading session and it got an instant reaction. At roughly 2:30 pm, the stock was trading at around $28 a share before heavy selling hit as news of the change spread.
