The fight between Novell Inc. and Microsoft Corp. to
woo corporate customers to their respective enterprise
directory platforms will heat up further next year.

To better address the high end of the enterprise market
and the service provider community, Novell plans to ship
next month an early beta of its next-generation NDS
(Novell Directory Services), code-named SCADS
(Scalable Directory Services)
, according to sources close
to the Provo, Utah, company.
