the Iraqi National Congress — a pro-American, democratic, inclusive, and even multicultural umbrella group I used to have some respect for Ledeen, but that's an absolutely ridiculous statement. The INC doesn't even exist anymore, in any meaningful fashion. Chalabi is, by all accounts I've seen, among the most disliked men in Iraq. I read the Pollock article from FA in detail last night, and found a lot of very valuable stuff there. Anybody interested in the current state of the reconstruction and prospects for its success needs to spend some time with that, and with the Adeed Dawisha piece in the current Journal of Democracy. Of course there's a bit of nuance there, which some will find distressing.
