14:28 ET Intel (INTC) 28.75 -0.05: BridgeNews reporting that Intel reaffirms its 2001 capex estimate of $7.5 bln; Intel is holding its annual meeting today. There has been much skepticism that Intel will hit its $7.5 bln capex target, though reaffirmation of the target is often seen as good news for the semi equipment cos.




14:21 ET FedSpeak : Federal Reserve Gov Meyer speaking in Edinburgh discusses continued risks to the US economy; but says that the Fed must calibrate easing to avoid overshooting and adding to future inflationary pressures. Meyer largely repeats consensus Fed views about risks of weakness due to investment decline and negative equity wealth effect.
