Regarding yesterday's announcement from InnovaCom: techstocks.com Here's TeleChoice's brief opinion (thanks for the heads up CA): <<TeleChoice expects that the addition of PCI interfaces on Sun machines will have two effects. The first is that card developers like InnovaCom will be able to come to market with processor-intensive solutions like the MPEG encoder at prices below that of current solutions. Secondly, Sun machines and technology will continue their push into the central office as they become a low cost way to deliver content over new high speed transmission technologies like xDSL.>> FYI: TeleChoice is a telecom consulting firm with a specialty in xDSL matters...http://www.telechoice.com/xdslnewz/newsDSL.cgi I believe Vela Research makes PCI MPEG-2 encoding boards as well. I'm not sure how concerned to be about these solutions.
