Don,
I remember that well. This was sent to me at one of my threads here at SI. Perhaps you will get a chuckle out of it.

Bill Murphy #7 WR 6-1 185 Cornell

From the Sporting News official 1969 American Football League Guide:

" A record number of rookies were forced to take over in critical areas: The surprising free agent from the Ivy League, Bill Murphy, Jr., of Cornell moved in for (Art) Graham at split end."

" Another free agent made an auspicious debut as Bill Murphy Jr.
made several spectacular catches to give some life to the Pats'
offense. A more celebrated Boston receiver Gino Cappelletti, scored his first touchdown of the season in the downpour and made history with it. He became the first player in AFL history to score over 1000 points. Nick Buoniconti was carried off the field and lost for the season with a knee injury." Nov. 10, 1968

Bill Murphy we salute you.

From a diehard fan of the old AFL.
