You're absolutely right. I guess I think of QQQ as an option because it's not a stock and is often used to hedge a high tech portfolio.
Shows how much my head is not into this stuff right now.
Still, shorting an index right now would scare me much more than shorting a specific stock. This is particularly true since I'm not currently even willing to write CC's on anything, and any option I'm involved in now doesn't expire until Jan. 03 at the earliest, the one exception being the QCOM 50 Jan 02 puts I sold 6 weeks ago.
