I've trying to look at MSFT within the framework of the overall market and its chart pattern. The stock wants to go higher, and it will but by how much and how fast. Those are always the 50M dollar questions especially with options.

Based on the chart, I believe MSFT is well set up to challenge the old high at $95 then follow through to the $100 level. This needs to happen no later than August otherwise I think we may have to wait till the fall or maybe into 2000 depending on how people start to act with respect to Y2K.

The market over the past two months is acting like it has bipolar disease as it cycles to the beat of the long bond swinging from depression to euphoria. Right now we are in depressed mode, the end of the quarter is approaching, the big money is sitting on the sidelines waiting for GS to do his thing next week. Given we only get a 1/4 rise and the fed doesn't talk the market down to much I believe we are well positioned to see the markets move to euphoria mode. Heading towards the July 4th holiday I do see MSFT making another run at the $89/90 level and falling back, before it breaks through.

MSFT above $90 at some point after the July 4th holiday and prior to options expiry I expect. If you are using options and want to see $100 then I think it is safer to eat a little premium now and go with August calls to better capture a run to the $100 level.

Hope this babble helps
