Tagatose research follows.

I would like to present the answers in a different way. So, here goes.

The following are areas where tagatose had to pass. When the examination was concluded, tagatose not only passed, it turned out to have beneficial effects.

1. Cancer. Tagatose passed all the tests. In addition, tagatose is converted to short chain fatty acids that reduce cancer occurance in the large intestine(colon). Some of the "fiberlike" effect may also reduce liver and pancreatic cancer rates.

2. Genetic mutations. Tag passed all tests. In addition, it has an anti-oxidative effect and it is expected to reduce mutations that are caused by oxidative mechanisms. There is a patent to store organs in a tagatose solution.

3. Effect in pregnancy. May control gestational diabetes (high glucose in pregnancy)-no work yet. But tag produces birthweights that are closer to what they are supposed to be. Pups are larger and healthier.

4. Circulatory system. Tagatose does not harm red blood cells. In effect, tag reduces anemia and fights hemophilia. They have a patent.

5. Glycosylation. Tagatose has a lower glycosylation index that glucose. This measures the tendency of the double bond oxygen of the carbo to combine with long lived proteins and cause harm. Tagatose also reduces blood glucose. So, it has a double effect on glycosylation. There is a patent.

6. Liver function. This has been studied by MRI. Supposedly, that was the paper that held up GRAS. The paper is accepted for publication and GRAS was declared. Tagatose causes no harmful effects to the liver. Its anti-oxidative effects are expected to promote liver health. Tagatose causes a slight enlargement of the liver, which is due to increased liver glycogen storage. This is healthful, because of the reduced blood glucose. Liver glycogen then is a reservoir if extra glucose is needed. There might be products for athletes.

7. Reproductive function. Tagatose does not promote sexual desire, but promotes the health and proper function in overweight and diabetic people. Patent?

8. Tagatose can be used to reduce overweight and obesity. Patent pending.

Limitations. High dose causes diarrhea. This in fact protects against overdose.
