Gingrich is the only person qualified for the VP spot.

I can't agree with that but for sure he'd be a good one. You're right about the baggage though, he was demonized all out of proportion when he was Speaker of the House. One thing you can say of Gingrich....he's a real leader. During his tenure as Speaker the Republicans at least had a plan...... Now it seems they've little of anything.
