Important to note that John III Sobieski, k. of Poland arrived at the head of his troops along with Charles of Lorraine with a German army. Poland abandoned the war against the Turks next year, while Austria (especially Prinz Eugen von Savoie) went on to conquer Budapest and Belgrade. This was the campaign that led the Hungarian Diet to confer the vacant crown on the male Hapsburg line, creating the Austro-Hungarian Empire which much later finally expelled the Turks from Europe (with lots of help from Russia and many others).
