I didn't say that Maitreya was dead, just that a messiah-cult involving a figure known as Maitreya was in vogue in the 20s. Which means we either have a new messiah with an old name, or he didn't die and has been around all along. There are some similarities in the rhetoric used to present both. If the material in Del's post is authentic - and I do recall seeing much the same verbiage on his site - it would be hard for me to look at this character as anything but a bad joke.

What we need is someone to save us from the saviours.
