Bad logic, for many reasons:

First, would that mean that if they increased their original offering by 100 percent, that the stock would be down 100 percent, or down to zero.

Second, it's not the number they issue - it is the TOTAL number OUTSTANDING that determines the price. Total Shares * Price per share = Market Capitalization.

And price per share is somewhat based on earnings per share (which again counts ALL shares, not just the number issued to the public).
