John, most companies pay dividend at the same time, and usually when a stock goes ex dividend it also drops by the amount of the dividend. Therefore you aren't really picking up a sure thing and you can't do it every week.........
A stradegy that you may also want to look at (I haven't got around to it) is buying DRIP's, some companies will sell at a 5% (or more) discount. Last edition of Bloomberg Mag had an article on a person who had bought a nice house on the proceeds of this (sure thing). Until that article I thought it was peanuts, most companies are smartening up, but not all.
