ECN's is only the beginning.
Wall Street is the obsolete mechanism of the 20th century.
There is a new concept under the name of equiverse.com that may have the answer to investing in public companies, reducing fraud and unethical behavior and providing information to all at once while reducing costs for both, the issuers and the investors whether they'd be individuals, companies, funds or institutions. Their site is not up yet.
