EDMONTON, February 24, 2000 -TOTAL TELCOM INC. is pleased to announce today its intention to build, own and operate a Fiber Optic corridor in Rural Western Canada. An estimated 600 kilometers of Fiber Optic Cable will be laid with the intention to offer Bandwidth and Dark Fiber sales to Bundled Service Providers, Municipalities and industrial clientele along the way.
Total Telcom has identified the need in Rural Communities to have access to high speed Broadband communications links to the technology world and today these communities are under serviced.
On February 10th, Total Telcom Inc. announced a proposed financing of $7 million through the issuing of special warrants, the majority of proceeds intended to be used to fund a portion of this Fiber Optic Corridor. Construction is expected to start this spring, subject to regulatory approvals, and the successful closing of the special warrant offering.
Total Telcom CEO Craig Baker reports that Management views this strategic initiative as a natural progression, which complements TTI's core competencies, and will see the Corporation evolve to a significant broadband service provider in Rural Canada.
