On a second reading of my post I realize that I might have been a bit emotional about the use of the words Ponzi Scheme. I didn't mean an intentional Ponzi Scheme....more like a pyramid where buyers know that what they are paying is irrational but they know from experience that buyers after them will be even more irrational so they just keep buying up until some kind of event causes some profit taking and the price cascades down.

I guess I was objecting to Adam's assertion that buying by the "lemming retail crowd" is something to seek out. Yikes! The large price spikes seem to whipsaw the investors and attract the traders. Not a desirable situation to me. I'd much rather attract buying based on a fundamental change in the company's revs/earnings than have stock price momentum caused by some perceived institutional following or a buy recommendation.
