To get a quick course on options goto http:/www.cboe.com/. Two small books you can get from your broker free are: Understanding Stock Options and Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options. They are a waisting instrument and you can lose (and most of the time do) all your option money. However it can be a method to limit your loss and maximum your gain for a stock like AKSEF. AKSEF will be worth either $0 or >$12 by the end of the year. They will have a deal or they will never get one. If the pipeline deal fails again like last year the stock will drop like a rock and you may not be able to get out (stock halted, Chapter 11 declared). Remember the political risks in the Sudan. AKSEF is a risk bet of the worst kind. You can play the stock, but I believe that the options are the better path. Whatever you do, don't invest anything in AKSEF that you are not willing to lose. This stock is not a MERK or IBM. Good luck.
