[No GPS Functions on Cell Phone Available in Foreseeable Future.

Even if a cell phone were attached to a GPS antanna, no cell phone exists that has enough storage to keep the geographic information and data. Even with the data, no cell phone has the processing power to calculate and recalculate the routes in at least 3-5 years.

It's much easier for Garmin to add a cell phone to its iQue 3600 or M5 than any cell phone to add the power of GPS.

Clarification: Google Mobile-Maps Story

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) -- In a Nov. 6 story about Google Inc.'s new mapping software for mobile phones, The Associated Press quoted a company executive saying that users won't have to type in their location to get directions on phones equipped with Global Positioning System technology. The story should have made clear that the GPS function isn't available yet.
