Skip- I for one am thankful. If you find yourself in San Jose, I'll buy you dinner and make sure the beer is cold.

The balance of optimists and pessimists here seems pretty ordinary right now. It is not surprising that the stock has faded a bit after the big news of FDA approval. It will still be a while before the FDA approval is translated into actual money-in-hand profits. So many of us took are profits and are keeping an eye CCSI.

And sure the potential market for bilirubin detection is huge, but many of the pessimists here have a very good point when they note that doctors may not reduce the number of needle sticks in many cases. If that is so, do they need this device? Time will tell. Perhaps as other non-invasive detection schemes become available, the whole panel of blood tests can be replaced by a variety of blood-free tests. If so, then CCSI's product will penetrate the market alongside the other tests. None would succeed without the others.

The technology itself is not challenging. There are a variety of fiber optic, grating spectrometers which be used to produce a handheld ColorMate type system. Because the technology is pretty much off-the-shelf, the future profits of the company will be primarily determined by the strength of their patent position, and the effectiveness of their marketing. Both of these are untested at this time. It should come as no surprise then that the market is uncertain of the company's value.

And hey, as long as I have had the chance to buy at 7 and sell at 14.50, why shouldn't I be happy with the recent motion? In the short term, I see better opportunities elsewhere. But perhaps if it it falls much lower I'll help provide some support. No regrets here...
