I found an extension that doesn't fix the problem. But it allows you to choose whatever icon you want for a particular bookmark. You can download the extension from extensionsmirror.nl

To attach your new favicon, you will have to rightclick on the bookmark and choose Properties. The properties box has now been extended with a section for Icon. Here you can pick your icon by clicking browse etc. The normal procedure applies.

When you have come so far you will most probably realise that you have no icons to install. At least that is what happened to me. But there are collections available on the net. One I came across is found at iconarchive.com. They seem to have a lot to choose from.

Good luck

Erik
