I'm not sure it is reasonable to expect Mac OS X to contribute, in either server or client form, to Apple's bottom line significantly for the forseeable future (next 4 quarters).

Apple's breadwinners are going to have to be the four corners of the product grid. This should provide ample growth for the forseeable future.

Side note: I was reading Forbes yesterday about the business models of all the companies that a giving away PCs in exchange for ISP contracts.

Typical: For $30/mo. for 30 months, you get a PC and ISP contract.

I was thinking how hard this would be to do with the iMac. Since the iMac is 4x the cost of the PCs these companies are using, you'd likely end up with a price closer to $50/mo, even if you use the $899 bondi iMacs.

I wonder if there is a market there.
