The U.N. is waging a massive campaign to build public support. As a valued member of Free Nations United, you need to know the real record of the U.N.
Libya was selected last year by the U.N. to serve as Chairman of the U.N. Human Rights Commission. In the election for the post held among the member countries of the Commission, only three of 53 nations voted against Libya, which has been cited as a habitual oppressor of human freedom and a state sponsor of terror.
In 2001, the United States was denied a seat on the U.N. Human Rights Commission because of pressure exerted on the U.N. by China and Cuba, two of the world's most vicious tyrannies.
The U.N., through the organization’s Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), has repeatedly employed members of Hamas, Fatah, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. As of last year, more than a dozen UNWRA staff members were being detained for a range of security concerns. Three staff members were convicted of criminal acts in connection with terrorist activity.
The U.N. has refused even to agree upon a definition of terrorism because so many of its member countries support the deliberate use of violence against innocent civilians.
According to Freedom House, an organization that monitors human rights practices around the globe, a majority of U.N. members are not politically free. The U.N. would have the people of the world believe that it is committed to the advancement of freedom, democracy, and human rights. But an examination of the record reveals the U.N.’s legacy of betraying free nations, especially Israel, and rewarding ruthless dictatorships.
