Retatlor: Good post. To all: I just talked with Colleen and have a call in to Reynolds (he is out of the office this afternoon, so it will probably be tomorrow before I hear from him).
The last PR did in fact "have some beef", according to Colleen. New Sky/Owasco has been in gruelling talks with Winchester for a couple of months to fashion an agreement for Winchester to secure the financing for Face Facts. These discussions were the subject of the Daily Variety article a few weeks back.
Reynolds has told us these things take time, but an agreement was finally reached and now Winchester has signed a contract for the option to secure not only the production financing (pre-production estimates of $3 to $5 million), but also for the worldwide distribution of the film. Winchester has a specific timeframe to obtain the financing, and they think so much about the possibilities for Fact Facts that they are putting themselves on the line for the whole ball of wax. In other words, when we have a PR announcing the production financing deal, we will have a distribution deal as well. And that's terrific news!!
I don't have the numbers for the agreement (what percentage of Face Facts profits Winchester is working on, if they are working on the usual percentage basis), but I'll ask Reynolds when I talk with him and post it here. Colleen also said when NSKY has the production money they will start signing cast and crew and we will be seeing PRs on those also. That has a good ring to it.
As for Freak Talks About Sex, it is definitely being pointed for the January's Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The completed version of Freak, with more scenes of Steve Zahn, will be submitted by the October 15 deadline. Look for news on this one also.
Here is a followup to the post by Patrick White, who reported on printing the sample poster for The Hell Candidate for use by Charles LaLoggia in Hollywood. The posters were completed in time to be used as a visual at the New York Film Market which ends today (and probably where Reynolds is). The film markets (another will be held in Hollywood) are where production companies shop scrips for their properties to financiers and distributors. As you probably suspect, a sample poster is made to look like the finished product so that interested parties can get an idea of what to look for as far as promotion. And, to us, it means The Hell Candidate is full speed ahead. We already knew that with the announcement about Shapiro, but I just like to type that phrase. There won't be any grass growing under their sandals on this one either.
At any rate, Colleen's report was much more interesting than the video of the Clinton deposition this morning/early afternoon.
Keep the faith folks. We are undervalued and the multiple projects are coming.
