The success rate is higher form many reasons. One of the primary reasons is that they have training and years of experience in knowing what works.

To look at AA's success as a failing or threat to the church is silly, because it isn't a threat or symbolic of any failing or shortcoming.

that would be equivalent to looking at an oncologists successful treatment of cancer as a shortcoming of the church. It would be equivalent to saying that seeking treatment of cancer at a hospital is foolish, you should get cancer treatment through the church.....

It's the same thing.
