as far as i'm aware, corporations are buying off politicians from both parties, just to be safe. looking at it from afar, i have always thought that there were few things more comical about the US than the fact that the electorate actually believes it has a choice...mind you, it's not much different in Europe, although there is at least a little bit more political diversity. in Europe you can vote for openly declared communists and fascists too if you want. interestingly, in the socialistic welfare state Germany, the libertarian party gets a decidedly bigger portion of the vote than its counterpart in the 'freedom-conscious' US.
