Thanks you very much for the link. So far, it looks as though my fears were justified. 24% lead crystal is ample to produce symptoms over the long run. Actually, if you drink orange juice from these, or something else with high acidity, it is enough to produce symptoms in the short run, especially in children.
Wine would take longer, but there should still be some symptoms in some people, depending partly on their diet, chelate, fluid, and antioxidant intake:
- poor memory - immune system weakness - hair loss - impotence - vision problems - learning problems - organ damage (brain, liver, cns, kidneys - systemic)
I'm glad to hear they are making a lead free series. It is up to wine enthusiasts to be intelligent enough to take advantage of that. Or you can use the cheap glasses, which are usually close to pure glass. If there is no lead for the acid in wine to leach out, there can be no lead poisoning.
