IMHO, Bush must have been convinced he was also making a strike for Christendom apart from other considerations. It would appear he was pushed along by his mother.

A news report had it that while attending a church service, his mother repeatedly whispered to him, "George, listen! he is talking to you......, he is talking to you.....," when the preacher read a passage from the Holy Bible about Moses leading his people to freedom.

For all we know, that might have had a tremendous impact on the born-again Christian George Bush and given him an unflagging missionary zeal and cocksureness.

By the way, the Fundamentalist Christian preacher Pat Robertson has said that Bush will be returned by a landslide.

Remember the religious undertones towards the end of the RNC?
