FiberChem, Inc.
Company brief:
- FiberChem, Inc. develops produces, markets and licenses its patented fiber optic chemical sensor (?FOCS©?) technology, which detects and monitors hydrocarbon pollution in the air, water and soil. The Company has developed a range of products and systems based on FOCS©, which provide in situ and continuous monitoring capabilities with real-time information. The Company also is developing a range new generation semi-conductor-based sensor products based on its Sensor-on-a-Chip©, developed in a joint venture with Texas Instruments, for a wide variety of environmental, consumer, commercial, industrial, automotive, medical and military applications.
On December 6, 1999, the Company announced it has signed a definitive agreement to merge with Intrex Data Communications Group* of Vancouver, British Columbia. FiberChem, renamed DecisionLink Inc., will be the surviving public entity. The merger** intent is to address the burgeoning remote asset management market, where the combined strength of FiberChem's sensor technology together with Intrex's proprietary Internet and communications technology global / satellite network expertise are expected to make a powerful team. DecisionLink will be headquartered at the Hughes Airport Center in Las Vegas, with operations in Dallas, Texas and Vancouver, B.C.
* Intrex is an ORBCOMM business partner. ( ORBCOMM is the world's first commercial provider of global low-Earth orbit satellite data and messaging communications services. ) This system will enable DecisionLink to track remote and mobile assets such as trailers and heavy equipment; monitor remote utility meters and oil and gas storage tanks, wells and pipelines; and stay in touch with remote workers anywhere on the globe.
