The early buzz on the Sears-Apple partnership is mostly positive, as is the feedback from those who have seen the new Sears iMac ad on TV.
It shows three men sitting at a table with iMacs of different flavors. One man is playing a game, one doing financial work, and the third surfing the Net. MacCentral reader Kris Selvig says the ad is basically a promo for Father's Day, but centers on the iMac.
Sears return to the Apple fold was announced during Apple iCEO Steve Jobs' keynote address at the 1999 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference.
The chain is a natural for selling iMacs because it has 844 stores and serves 32 million households. Reportedly, 54% of those purchasing computers from Sears are first time buyers, making the chain a perfect match with the iMac statistics. "
