Alex, you're right, it's not rocket science. We do have a lot of deaths by guns. And the reason is because we have a lot of guns AND because we have a lot of mentally disturbed people out there. But the laws about guns are not going to change. What we do have the ability to do is change how we handle mental health issues - if we weren't so absorbed by the idea that it is the guns doing the killing.

So why do you think South Africa has as many deaths per 100,000 as we do and yet has only 1/7th as many guns per thousand?
