Friday Ruminations.
Interesting news soon is my suspicion, as well.
Like yourself, I don't have any facts to back this up. More of an instinct based off of the tempo of the product rollout and the sense that Markman is adopting a consciously conservative strategy (not announcing until all details are set). I applaud this in principle, even though it might hurt our stock price short-term.
Also, the mood at GMGC is extremely high. Everyone thinks they have a winner and that they are rich. I'm certainly factoring this into my thinking.
As to this week's market. Perhaps your analysis is correct. Not my area of expertise, I wouldn't even hazard a guess.
Unfortunately, Friday's activity immediately hit some of my sell trigger points. Thus I ended up unloading part of my position. Those sales probably contributed to the early-morning death spiral. Didn't like it, but I believe in following through on a strategy and not letting emotion get in the way.
I locked back in at the 11's, although not back to my full original position. I want to better understand the revenue/partner picture before I do that.
Back to analysis mode.
Questions I have:
- What is the Portico ramping plan? Operation centers/ number of customers supported? What timeframes? Show me a curve, please.
- When are we going to get news about the agent/microsoft deal? Product and revenue implications, if any?
- What is the revenue distribution between reseller, channel and GMGC? What are the percentages?
- Are there other revenue sources? Content providers? ISV or VAR opportunities?
- What is the corporate enterprise angle? Partners? Market strategy, price breakdown and timing? I'm sure something is going on here, but you wouldn't know that by the gmgc PR sphinx.
- Is Datarover a significant revenue source, or a waste of time? Cogs? Price?
The good news is that the market demand is truly there. I know this because I got on the phone and called all the resellers. Literally.
They are quite excited. One salesman connected me to a fellow who had just heard a demo - sort of a realtime testimony, which sounded like a Billy Graham revival. Another said that the product sold itself and that their quota (?) was going to be easily exceeded.
Well, we're entering a new phase. Let's see if it is a profitable one.
