I think you are right that Amazon is putting N2K and CDNow out of business.

Concerning Barnes and Noble buying Ingram:

1. Ingram could charge more for book to Amazon than they do to Barnes and Noble.

2. Ingram could slow shipments to Amazon.

3. Ingram could even stop selling to Amazon.

However, I have always thought that the book business is really not where Amazon has its best potential. It seems like Amazon has so many other directions it can go and be more successful. They've already shown they can do it with music. I'll bet they'll do it with software. They could do it with clothing, with cars, with groceries, with computers, with online auctions, etc.
