Tom: What is not clear is that Qualcomm pointed out that those looking at net adds are stupid. (My words, not theirs)

70% of sales are for replacements. And that is now.

When Sprint gets off is rear and the worst "roll out" in history at last takes place, the replacement rate will be 100% over time.

As will be the Verizon "roll out".

But given the pitiful way the two winners have (yuk) handled their introductions of CDMA 1x - hard to think or anything worse - given the advantages they have - we will wait a bit in the US.

Sprint is a weak reed, and after all Verizon has 45% Vodaphone ownership. Sad, sad, for anything which would build on the strengths of CDMA.

The most absurd of course is Sprint's failure to use BREW.

But then, there is the rest of the world. Korea, Japan and the rest of Asia, and Canada leading in North America.

Good Qualcomm is the choice in China for helping Chinese companies get a place at the table vs the Europeans.

Best.
