Clark picks up McGovern endorsement in N.H. suntimes.com KEENE, N.H. -- Wesley Clark's campaign on Sunday labored to erode support for chief rivals Howard Dean and John Kerry in the looming New Hampshire primary as the retired general picked up the endorsement of George McGovern. Clark won the backing of McGovern, a liberal hero who clinched the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination with his opposition to Vietnam, at a pancake breakfast here at a middle school. The Clark campaign has been seeking to bolster his anti-Iraq war and Democratic Party credentials as his opponents seek to exploit these potential vulnerabilities. "I think the best of the lot is Wesley Clark,'' said McGovern, a former South Dakota senator. McGovern said Clark is the one in the eight-man field who "has the best chance of defeating George Bush in the fall.''.....
