This is not much different than what virtually every other analyst has reported, with the addition of the "off-line" comment which I read as positive for qualcomm. MOT is Matt's top wireless pick. He seems to be pretty wired to management (which has of course recently shuffled). He did go on to add, however: We continue to believe one of the main reasons Motorola is currently No. 1 worldwide in CDMA handset market share is the differentiation its chipset provided the company, allowing it to separate its offering from the field. Long term we would like to see the company re-enter the competition, especially since TXN is still active in CDMA. There really is little else of interest in the report but it can be accessed here: research.soundview.com I have not listened to the Motorola CC and probably won't but one thing I found interesting from reading Matt's report and a more detailed one from Lehman Brothers is that there evidently was no mention of the dual-mode WCDMA chipset that Motorola plans (planned) to sample to others in September and use for its own initial handset. - Eric -
