Racal Telecom already supplies backhaul links to AC-1, the major transatlantic optical fibre cable system, both in the US and in the UK. In Europe, a two-way partnership has been forged with Esprit Telecom, to create dedicated high-speed SDH links into Paris, with plans to expand to other major European financial centres, such as Frankfurt and Amsterdam. To support its international operations, Racal will co-locate IP routers and ATM switches at 11 key sites in the US and Europe in order to implement wholesale capacity at these locations. Last week Bell Atlantic took a stake in MFNX. “Oh what a tangled Web we weave.”
