Excellent article, Ken. It raises my hopes of AT&T/TCI delivering high-speed access to my neighborhood, one of these days, with telephony to follow shortly thereafter.

I know when I tell the boys over @ PacBell what's likely to happen in my neighborhood, I sense a heightened level of concern. Situated approximately 40,000 ft from the CO, I would like nothing better for cable telephony to be delivered to my neighborhood. I would like nothing better than a one-stop telecommunications company to service all my needs - telephony, wireless/cellular, Internet, broadcast, video & audio distribution. The foregoing is enough to get these ILECs off their butts & focus on delivering broadband technology to their long-held & hostage-held residential customer base. It'll be interesting.
