RE: ACLU--The ACLU has lost its purpose by concentrating solely on first amendment issues, irrespective of the context. Historically, the ACLU has been valuable in preserving individual rights to freedom of speech and religion, in issues as important as state support of religious schools (through vouchers, etc.).
