Good evening,
I'm throwing out a current "annoyance" problem. I've got 3 pc's all running Win 98SE. They are connected to the
internet sharing DSL via a home portal router and are humming along fine. Bandwidth speed is great I'm happy to say. Here's the annoyance..... When clicking on IE on 2 of the pc's the page loads up immediately to my homepage but
on the third pc nothing loads for about 1 minute. On the
very bottom of the IE browser where you can usually see
what is address is loading, it just says "detecting proxy settings" until it finally brings up my homepage.I have no
problem bringing up Aol's browser immediately on this same pc. The one difference between the pc in question and the other 2, is that it has IE 5.5 and the other 2 have IE 5.0.
Would this have a bearing on it? I really wanted to remain with IE 5.0 but when the family downloaded a new AOL version, it was bundled with IE 5.5. What do you think?
Is there some settings within IE 5.5 that would help?
TIA,
Cruz
