"You may have your experience, but my experience with half-a- century in communism, I know that government failure is incomparably worse than any market failure. So, therefore, my position on any form, kind, motivation of government intervention is quite clear, to limit it as much as possible."
I almost posted some snotty remark earlier about making food abuse illegal but was busy laying tile and didn't get to it. Get some swat teams out busting down doors where fat people are rumored to be hiding. Confiscate some Twinkies. Shoot a few, what the hell.
I sometimes get a little tired of being on the wrong side and thought I'd spend some time being for regulating everything, just to see how it felt to fit in with the main stream. Doctors, drugs, people who eat too much, live in big houses, drive big cars, smokers. I might even end up voting for Obama just to feel I'm on the winning team, or sending Al Gore some money to ease my conscience over being alive.
I had a funny work experience a number of years back that keeps popping into my head recently. Being a union member I was working for a union contractor and the business agent happened by and started giving us shit about some minor rules infraction. I asked him why he was giving us such a hard time about something really petty when the outfit down the street was non-union and working in his territory. He told me he couldn't do anything about them but he could do something about us. One of those 'light bulb going off in my head' moments. And 3% of my pay went to support his over paid ass and fancy car. Not sure why I'm relating this, just something in the air that brings that to mind, I guess. Maybe tile does that to me.
Hi the_wheel, if you're still around.
