Sam, Thanks for explaining your approach. I think it's a good one.
However, I got into this trying to integrate QP and MSWIN. Ease of use of data by MSWIN is a key criteria for me. I wanted to automatically transform data to MetaStock format from QP - so I could process the stock data (now copied elsewhere from QP) using MSWIN. After using separate lists and directories for a couple of weeks, my preference is to have the stock data in one area for scanned stocks.

My script gets around a limitation of QP-Metastock output (It blows up if you try to move data for the same stock twice to a single directory).
