Isn't this more or less what Barak offered to Arafat a few years back, and it was rejected (triggering yet another "intifada")? If ol' Zbig wants to be constructive, he should first work out the objections on the part of Arabs, and THEN start pressuring Israel - and probably not much pressure would be needed.

Yes, it's exactly the contours of the Taba proposals (the intifada was already going on at the time). Arafat demanded right of return and broke the deal. I don't recall if Arafat ever agreed to a demilitarized state, not that it matters since he would have regarded those promises no more than his former Oslo promises.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Zbig to press the Palestinians on anything. Not that he hates Israel, mind you. It just works out in such a way as to closely resemble what he might do and say if he did hate Israel.
